Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary stated that the existing water reserves are sufficient for approximately 150 days. Tirumala requires around 50 lakh gallons of water daily, with approximately half supplied by TTD’s own reservoirs and the remaining requirement met through Kalyani Dam.

Officials are hoping that rainfall during November and December will replenish the reservoirs. If the dams reach full capacity, the available water could potentially meet Tirumala’s requirements for around 18 months.

Alternative Plans in Place

The TTD chairman directed officials to prepare contingency plans in case rainfall is inadequate. The administration is also exploring alternative supply arrangements, including strengthening the use of Kalyani Dam.

Long-term measures include desilting reservoirs, constructing check dams, preventing water leaks in accommodation facilities and promoting water conservation among devotees.

TTD has reiterated its commitment to maintaining an uninterrupted water supply for the large number of pilgrims visiting Tirumala.

While the current reserves are expected to meet requirements for the coming months, officials will continue monitoring reservoir levels and preparing for possible changes in rainfall.
