Home Solar Deals and Subsidies 2026 – Janatha Mirror

Homeowners can reduce rooftop solar costs through government subsidies, state incentives and financing options. Check the latest deals and conditions before installation.

1. Home solar becomes a bigger household-saving option

Indian homeowners are increasingly considering rooftop solar to manage electricity expenses. The latest opportunity is not just a discount from an installer: government assistance, state incentives and bank financing can together reduce the initial cost. Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, eligible households can receive central financial assistance of up to ₹78,000 for a qualifying rooftop system of 3 kW or above in general states. The actual benefit depends on system capacity, eligibility and scheme rules.

2. State incentives can make a major price difference

A Financial Express report dated October 7, 2026, based on Indian Solar Manufacturers Association estimates, found that some states are adding support on top of the central subsidy. Uttar Pradesh offers an additional benefit of up to ₹30,000, while Delhi offers up to ₹30,000. Uttarakhand's combined central and state support was estimated at ₹1,36,800 for a 3 kW system. Tamil Nadu's reported additional incentive was ₹20,000. These figures are state-specific and should not be treated as nationwide offers. Homeowners in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh should check the latest state and DISCOM rules before including any additional subsidy in their budget.

3. New financing links aim to make installation easier

Financing is becoming an important part of the home-solar market. On October 29, Fibe and Hygge Energy announced a partnership to connect rooftop-solar customers with providers and loan-financing options through digital infrastructure. Separately, the Finance Ministry has asked banks to speed up solar-loan processing, targeting a turnaround of under 10 days; a Mint report on October 9 said processing was taking around 17 days at public-sector banks and 19 days at private banks. Eligible households should compare interest rates, processing fees, repayment periods and total loan cost before choosing an EMI offer.

4. What to check before accepting a solar deal

A 3 kW rooftop system was estimated to cost around ₹1.50 lakh to ₹2.10 lakh, depending on equipment and installation quality, in the October Financial Express report. Ask vendors for a written quotation covering panels, inverter, structure, wiring, installation, warranties, net-metering assistance and taxes. Confirm that the vendor is registered under the scheme and that the equipment meets applicable requirements. Do not assume a private festive discount can automatically be combined with a government subsidy. Compare at least two or three quotations and calculate savings using your actual electricity consumption, tariff and available sunlight.
