November India Travel News – Janatha Mirror

India's domestic tourism is gaining momentum ahead of the winter holidays, while new international travel rules make advance planning essential.

India's travel sector is heading into November 2026 with growing interest in domestic holidays and lesser-known destinations. With overseas trips becoming more expensive due to currency movements, higher fuel costs and airfares, many travellers are considering destinations within India. According to a report published on October 31, India recorded 4.28 billion domestic tourist visits in 2025, compared with 2.9 billion in 2024. These figures represent visits rather than individual travellers, but they underline the scale of domestic tourism.

Several states are stepping up their efforts to attract winter visitors.

Travel companies are also reporting strong interest in festive and group holidays. Data cited in an October 31 report shows that community-based trips accounted for 65% of WanderOn's festive travel bookings in October 2026, compared with 57% in the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, India's Ministry of Tourism is preparing to showcase the country's destinations and experiences at World Travel Market London from November 3 to 5. These developments point towards growing opportunities for group tours, cultural journeys and experience-based holidays.

International travellers should also check the latest entry rules before booking. China's visa application process for Indian nationals changed from October 26, with diplomatic missions taking over application review and mandatory online document checks introduced. Australia has also begun requesting biometrics from selected Indian visa applicants. In addition, ongoing flight disruptions in parts of the Middle East make it important to verify airline schedules and travel advisories before departure. For November holidays, travellers should confirm tickets, accommodation, entry requirements and cancellation policies early to avoid last-minute difficulties.
