Telangana records ₹8,710 crore in property registration revenue between April and October 19, 2026, despite signs of slower activity in some segments.

Telangana Property Registration Revenue Reaches ₹8,710 Crore Despite Slower Sales

Registration revenue should be assessed alongside the number of transactions and actual property prices. A rise in government guidance values or registration charges can increase revenue without a similar rise in the number of properties sold.

Hyderabad: Telangana's Registration and Stamps Department collected ₹8,710 crore in revenue between April and October 19 of the 2026–27 financial year, compared with ₹7,217 crore during the corresponding period last year, according to a report published by Telangana Tribune on October 22.

The increase comes amid slower property activity in some parts of the state. The report attributes much of the revenue growth to the revision of government property guidance values that took effect on June 5.

Revenue Rises by Nearly ₹1,500 Crore

The department collected nearly ₹1,500 crore more than during the comparable period of the previous financial year. Approximately 10 lakh agricultural and non-agricultural property documents had been registered by the reporting date.

Although the overall number of registered documents was only slightly higher than a year earlier, revenue increased substantially. Higher registration values meant that the department could collect more revenue without a proportionate increase in the number of transactions.

Non-Agricultural Property Leads Revenue

According to the report, revenue from non-agricultural properties—including residential buildings, plots and commercial properties—increased to ₹7,549 crore, compared with ₹6,326 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Agricultural property registrations showed a different trend. The number of agricultural registrations fell from 3.58 lakh to 3.37 lakh, while revenue from this segment rose from ₹890 crore to ₹1,189 crore.

The report also noted that registrations slowed after the government revised guidance values in June, following a rush of transactions in April and May.

What Property Buyers Should Know

Higher registration revenue does not necessarily indicate that property sales have increased at the same rate. Revenue can rise because of changes in guidance values, transaction values and the composition of properties being registered.

Buyers and sellers should check the applicable guidance value, stamp duty and registration charges before completing a transaction. They should also confirm title documents, approvals and other legal requirements with the relevant authorities.

The department's revenue performance will remain an important indicator of the property market and state finances as Telangana moves through the rest of the financial year.
