Telangana Property Registration Revenue Crosses ₹8,700 Crore Despite Slower Sales

Telangana collected ₹8,710 crore in property registration revenue through October 19, 2026, despite slower activity in some property segments.
Hyderabad, October 25: Telangana's Registration and Stamps Department collected ₹8,710 crore in revenue between April and October 19 of the 2026–27 financial year, compared with ₹7,217 crore during the corresponding period last year, according to a report published by Telangana Tribune on October 22.
The increase comes even as property-registration activity has slowed in some parts of the state. Officials have linked much of the revenue growth to revised government land values that took effect on June 5.

Non-Agricultural Property Segment Records Higher Collections
According to the report, around 10 lakh documents covering agricultural and non-agricultural properties were registered during the period. The overall document count was only marginally higher than the approximately 9.94 lakh recorded in the corresponding period last year.
Registrations reportedly increased during April and May as buyers moved ahead of the revised land values. Monthly activity subsequently weakened after June.
Revenue from non-agricultural properties, including housing plots, residential buildings and commercial buildings, increased to ₹7,549 crore from ₹6,326 crore. Agricultural property registrations declined, although revenue from that segment rose because of higher registration values.

What the Figures Mean for Buyers
Higher government registration values can increase the amount buyers need to budget for a transaction. However, registration revenue alone does not show whether market demand or the number of property sales is growing at the same pace.
Market perspective: Buyers should calculate stamp duty and registration expenses using the applicable official values and the transaction terms. They should also compare recent sales of similar properties rather than assuming that higher government values automatically represent market prices.
The next few months will be important in determining whether registration volumes recover during the traditional festive-season period.
