Locally assembled Defender 110 starts at ₹99 lakh ex-showroom as JLR targets luxury SUV buyers
Land Rover Defender Prices Cut by Up to ₹34 Lakh After Local Assembly Begins in India

Jaguar Land Rover has begun local assembly of the Defender 110 in Pune, reducing prices of selected versions by up to ₹34 lakh compared with equivalent imported models. The locally assembled range starts at ₹99 lakh ex-showroom.
Local assembly changes Defender pricing
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has begun assembling the Defender 110 at its Pune facility, a move that has enabled significant price reductions for selected variants. According to a Financial Express report published on October 27, prices for the locally assembled range start at ₹99 lakh and extend to ₹1.18 crore, ex-showroom.
The company says the price reductions can reach ₹34 lakh compared with equivalent completely built-up imported versions. India becomes the second country globally to assemble the Defender, after Slovakia, according to the report.

More equipment included
The pricing change is not described simply as a reduction in features to lower the sticker price. The report says JLR has also made some features that were previously optional standard equipment across variants.
Final specifications, delivery timelines and availability should be confirmed with an authorised JLR retailer, as they may differ by version and location.
A stronger push in the luxury SUV segment
JLR is using local assembly to strengthen the Defender's position in India's premium SUV market. Lower prices may bring selected variants within reach of additional buyers, though the vehicle remains in the high-end segment once insurance, registration and other on-road costs are included.

Market Perspective
Local assembly can reduce some costs associated with importing a fully built vehicle and may improve a model's competitive position. The actual benefit for buyers depends on variant pricing, equipment, delivery availability and after-sales ownership costs.
The reported reduction is a comparison with equivalent imported versions, not a universal discount on every Defender previously sold. Customers should compare the exact variant, model year and written on-road quotation before making a decision.
